MONTGOMERY, Ala.---Emmanuel's Joel Sawyer leads the field after a rainy day one of the Southern States Athletic Conference men's golf tournament being played at Lagoon Park.

The Lions endured the wet course on Monday and are in third place after round one with a +5 team score (293) just six strokes off the lead.

Sawyer fired a 1-under round of 71 to lead the Lions. He shot a 35 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine.

EC is back on the course today in round two of the SSAC championship.
