Franklin Springs, GA - October 17th, 2015, the EC lady lions defeated the Bethel University wildcats, by a score of 135 to 26. Congratulations to Freshmen Morgan Harkness, who broke the EC School record in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18 minutes, 48 seconds. The lady lions, competing in their third meet of the season, continue to perform well.
In the Stoke events, Johnstone placed 1st in 400 yard IM (4:51.87). Gonzalez placed 1st in the women's 200 yard fly (2:13.58). Behind her was Overa in 3rd (2:45.73). Tobo finished in 1st place in the women's 200 yard back (2:13.30). Curtright, placed 2nd (3:34.36). Harkness placed 1st in the women's 200 yard breast (2:50.24) while Emily Burtt placed 3rd (3:01.17).
In the Sprint events, Whitaker finished 2nd in the women's 200 yard free (2:15.98), Sarah Curtright, finished 3rd (2:37.59), and Rainge placing 4th (3:41.35). Tamblyn placed 1st in the 50 yard free (26.82) followed by Overa in 2nd (27.47) and Alex Curtright in 5th (36.56). Gratz placed 1st in the women's 100 yard free (1:00.20) followed by Whitaker in 3rd (1:01.12) and Rainge in 4th (1:36.70).
In the Distance events, Harkness set a new school record in the women's 1650 free placing 1st (18:48.55). Gratz placed 1st in the women's 500 yard free (6:38.86), followed by Sarah Curtright placing 2nd (7:09.10).
In the Relays, (Tobo, Tamblyn, Gonzalez, Johnstone) placed 1st in the women's 200 medley relay (1:56.26), just missing the EC school record by less than .5 seconds. Alex Curtright, Burtt, Sarah Curtright, and Rainge placed 2nd (2:41.98). Tobo, Whitaker, Overa, and Harkness placed 1st in the women's 200 yard free relay (1:49.39). Johnstone, Gratz, Gonzalez, and Burtt placed 2nd (1:54.20).
Next home meet, this Saturday (October 24) starting at 1pm, the Lion's host Life University, King University, and Warren Wilson College in Quad Meet action.
