Women's Basketball Dominates Against The Jaguars

Box Score Franklin Springs, Ga—Emmanuel College Lady Lions Basketball defeats Augusta 76-59.
 
In the first quarter, the Jaguars opened up with the first 2 points of the night, but Senior, Mari Jonassen jumper gave us the equalizer. Throughout the first quarter, both teams were equal, until the last minute, when Junior, Jazmin Allen made both free throws and a layup, to let the Lions take the lead in the end of the first quarter, 18-12. 
 
During the second quarter, the Jaguars fought their way back into the game and equalized after 5 minutes into the second quarter, 21-21. The Lions, struggling with the turnover ratio, picked up the pace, with Allen scoring a layup and Senior, Breanna Locke, scoring a 3 pointer, to extend the lead 27-21. By the end of the second quarter, the Lions were on a roll, with Junior, Lexie Sengkhammee, 3 pointers good, to end the second quarter 39-31. 
 
After halftime, both teams were back and forth. It wasn't until Locke's, and Jonassen's free throws that extended the lead for the Lions, 54-40. In the start of the fourth quarter, the Lions were coming in 59-44. The Lions kept attacking the floor, and the Jaguars were unable to answer back. By the last 3 minutes, Sophomore, Tia Shelton free throw, and Freshman Zuriyah Davis jump shot helped extend the Lions lead 71-57.  
 
Locke led the way for the Lions with 25 total points and was 6 for 6 six at the free throw line. Another notable player for the Lions, #2 Allen assisted the win with 9 total rebounds and 15 total points. Emily Dreslinskiand Jonassen, also played a great game with 9 points and 3 rebounds each.
 
The Lions outshoot 51.9% the Jags from the field, 28.6% from three-point territory, and 78.3% from the free-throw line. The Jaguars shot going 40.7% from the field,and outshoot the Lions with 35.7% from three-point range, and 76.9% from the line. 
 
A great win for the EC Women's Basketball team and for EC Athletics. The Lady Lions next home game is scheduled for December 15 at 6 p.m. where they will take on the Anderson University Trojans.
