Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA—The Emmanuel College Lady Lions triumph over the Anderson University Trojans 77 -67 at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Lions opened up with a jump ball win and an immediate score to start off the first quarter, where they took the lead 22-11. The Lions scored 10 points before Anderson obtained any points on the board, making for a good start to the first quarter.
The Trojans brought a fight in the second quarter, outscoring the Lions by two points but failing to take the lead due and the Lions ended the half up by 9, resulting in 39-30.
Emmanuel maintained the lead throughout the third quarter and brought the score to 58-48 with 10 of the Lion's 18 points being put up by
Breanna Locke in the paint and at the free throw line. Anderson University Freshman point guard, Ashley Berry, had several vital assists to J'Mya Cutter to keep the Trojans on the scoreboard.
The fourth quarter was equal score of 19 points placed on the board by both teams, with Emmanuel maintaining the lead and ending the game 77-67 in a nail-biting final few minutes.
Mari Jonassen, after scoring several layups off of the press break in the final quarter, finished out the game with the ball while the fans stood and applauded the Lions win.
Breanna Locke helped boost the lead in the final minutes with 3 made free throws.
Field percentage was averaged around 50% for the Lions and 40% for the Trojans, with top scorers being
Breanna Locke (EC) with 32 points and J'Mya Cutter (AU) with 15. Other notable scores for the Lions were
Jazmin Allen with 13 points and
Zuriyah Davis with 12 points.
The Lions will take on Georgia Southwestern State University
