Box Score Franklin Springs, GA - If you've been following the Lions it wasn't a mistake when you seen this being the fourth time the Lions and Crusaders have met in just over a two week period. Three of those four games were decided by only 2 points.
Lions bounced back from there loss Thursday at Belmont Abbey by defeating the Crusaders, 67-65 and giving them there first loss in Conference. Lions are now 4-4 and 2-1 in Conference play. All 5 starters for the Lions reached double figures.
Sophomore guard, KJ Jones II, led all scorers with 14 points while chipping in 4 rebounds. Brandon Simpson added 12 points and had a game high 9 rebounds, 6 of those were offensive rebounds. He also had 5 assists. Tyonn Stuckey had 12 points and knocked in four 3 pointers. Michael Wright had 12 points. He knocked down three 3 pointers. Wright also chipped in 5 rebounds. Sophomore forward, Jayvion Rucker added 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Kyler Ingram had a game high of 7 rebounds.
The Lions were leading the whole game but that did not stop the Crusaders from trying to tie the score. With 1:40 left in the last half, the Crusaders only 1 point behind the Lions, 60-59. With a few free-throws from Brandon Simpson, the Lions were ahead 65-63, with 30 seconds left to go. The Crusaders had two opportunity to win the game but they were unable to capture the winning shot with both shots bouncing off the rim.
Lions will be back in action again Tuesday, January 26 at North Greenville for another conference match.
