Box Score Murfreesboro, NC - The Lions continued their hot shooting from the second half yesterday into today's game versus the Chowan Hawks. They ended the first half, 17-29 from the field (59%) and 8-15 from the 3-point line (53%). The hot shooting was enough for the Lions to hold off the Hawks for an 80-63 victory to earn the season sweep of Chowan.
Four guys reached double figures for the Lions:
Sophomore guard,
KJ Jones II, surpassed the 20 point mark for the seventh time this season. He had a game high 21 points, going 5-11 from the field (45%) and 2-4 from deep (50%). Jones was also a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe. He assisted on 5 baskets and had 3 rebounds.
Junior Forward,
Michael Wright, stepped up in a big way for the Lions. He had a season high 15 points. Knocking down five 3 pointers while going 5-12 from deep (42%).
Senior,
Brandon Simpson, also added 11 points to reach double-digits for his fourth straight game. He also had 4 rebounds, 3 offensive.
Junior Guard,
Isaiah Foster, had a huge weekend for the Lions stepping up big in the absence of teammate
Tyonn Stuckey. Isaiah added 10 points going 4-7 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc. He had 3 rebounds and dished out 2 assists.
Jayvion Rucker also had double digits rebounds for the second game in a row. Grabbing down 13 rebounds. He also contributed 6 points.
Lions will be back in action Tuesday, February 2 at Erskine College, Due West, SC. They look to continue their winning ways sitting at 7-4 overall and 5-1 in conference.
