Lady Lions Secure the Win after a Big Comeback in the Second Half

2/17/2021 11:02:00 PM

Box Score Franklin Springs, Ga – Emmanuel Lady Lions Crush the Crusaders in an aggressive game against longtime rival. The Lady Lions were coming off of a Win against Lees-McRae College and carried that momentum into tonight's game against the North Greenville University Crusaders.

The first half looked bleak for the Lions as the Crusaders came off of the bus ready to play, scoring 20 in the first quarter and 19 in the second. The Lions did not match their field goals and came up short with 15 in the first quarter and 14 in the second, resulting in 39-29 NGU at the end of the half.

The Crusaders points were led by #4 Haylee Luttrell, who put up 16 of the total 64 points. NGU top scorers also included #12 and #15, Tolisha Walker and Jyka Bell, with 11 points each, followed by #1 Journey Huhammad with 10.

The Lions came out of the locker room ready to fight for the win in the second half and outscored NGU in the third with 18 points (compared to Crusader 10) and eventually overturned the Crusaders in the fourth quarter, putting 25 points up on the board while the Crusaders only put up 15.

The Lion win was assisted by the ladies' ability to hit free throws, as they were 84.0% from the line, scoring 21 points off of free throws alone.

The Lions were led by #23 Breanna Locke with over half of the total points being put on the board by the Senior, totaling 38 game points. Other key top scorers included #2 Jazmin Allen with 14 and #21 Emily Dreslinski with 11.

A nail-biting final quarter led to another Lady Lion win! Keep up with the Lions as they play next on Saturday, February 20 at home against the University of Mount Olive at 3 p.m. All fans are encouraged to watch the game live via the Conference Carolinas Digital Network and, as always, GO LIONS!!!
