FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - Men's volleyball took on the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Friday night. The Lions defeated the Bobcats in four sets, 3-1. The win at home moves their record to 2-5. 

The first set began with a dominate start for the Lions as they led 6-1 early on. Despite calling a timeout to collect themselves, the Bobcats were unable to mount a comeback as the Lions took the set by fourteen points, 25-11. Emmanuel recorded an impressive 6 service aces in the set. 

The second set began with kills by seniors Don Thompson and Aleksa Lakic that gave the Lions the early lead, 4-1. The Bobcats rallied to tie the game at eight. A seesaw exchange of points ensued as the lead changed seven times until the set was tied at 20. One more kill from both Thompson and Lakic lead to the Lions taking the second set, 25-22. 

The Lions once again took the lead early in the third set, 9-5. The Lions continued to control the set until they led by six points late, 23-17. However, six straight points from the Bobcats kept their hopes alive. A kill from Lakic broke the run by the Bobcats, but it wasn't enough as the Lions gave up the third set, 27-25. 

The fourth set was as close as two points early on, but the Lions started to run away with it in the middle of the set. With Emmanuel leading 22-17, a kill from Thompson, an ace from sophomore Henrik Westhoff, and another kill from Thompson gave the Lions the set, 25-17.  The Lions were led by Don Thompson, who recorded 18 kills, a service ace, two solo blocks, and a hitting percentage of .424. Aleksa Lakic followed with 15 kills, two aces, and one block, hitting .273. Setter Henrik Westhoff recorded 42 assists and 4 service aces. 

Next up, men's volleyball will host King University on Saturday, February 20, at 12:30pm.
