Box Score Franklin Springs, Ga—The Lady Lions Women's Basketball team shows out on senior day against the Mount Olive Trojans.
A fun day of celebration for the Lady Lions, with 8 graduating seniors being recognized and a win against the Trojans.
The game started off hot in the first quarter and the Lions were ready to play, scoring a total of 30 points in the first quarter alone. The Trojans could not match the energy and were overturned from the beginning, scoring only 13 against the Lion defense.
The first half ended with a few more points from the Trojans but not nearly enough to close the gap and catch up to the Lions, resulting in a score of 49-31 for the Lions.
On a hot streak tonight, Lion senior #23 Breanna Locke scored 31 total points comprised of 6 "nothing but net" three pointers, 3 free throws, and 11 buckets from the field. Breanna Locke averages 22 points a game and had scored 22 before the end of the first half.
The Lions were also led by senior #3 Mari Jonassen with 16 points and senior #21 Emily Dreslinski with 10 points.
The Lions were unrelenting in the third quarter, outscoring the Trojans 23-8, resulting in a third quarter end score 72-39. While Mount Olive outscored Emmanuel by one basket in the fourth quarter, the gap was far too wide and the Lions came out on top, 86-55 final.
The Trojans were led by #3 Ayonna Cotton with 13 points and 6 rebounds, as well as #13 Cristina De La Cruz with 11 points. The ladies put up an aggressive fight until the end, but could not beat the Lion streak.
The fourth quarter showcased Lion seniors in honor of senior day and ended with a three point shot seconds before the buzzer by #30 Michaela Hudson, an exciting moment for the Lions and a season high for Michaela Hudson.
Another great win for the Lady Lions and a great way to celebrate the dedication of Emmanuel Athletics Seniors as they finish out their careers as Lions.
