Lady Lions starts their Conference Quest with a win against the Valkyries

Box Score Franklin Springs, Ga—Lady Lions sweep Converse Valkyries in 3 sets in tonight's match at Shaw Athletic Center. 
 
The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team showed out tonight in their match against Converse College, a great win for the Lions. 
 
The first set of the night opened with a runaway lead by the Lions, beating the Valkyries 25-11. The Lions scored 12 points off of kills, 2 aces, and 9 points off of errors from Converse. 
 
The second set showed a fighting spirit for Converse, with the first few points tied up until the Lions took the lead. The Lady Lions continued to push for the victory with double the kills as their opponent, 16 for the Lions and 8 for Converse, resulting in a 25-18 win. 
 
The third set was tight as both teams struggled to pull forward and take the lead, Emmanuel giving up 12 points on errors. Despite the errors, the Lions still ahd over double the kills as the Valkyries, scoring 14 kills opposed to Converse 6. Ultimately the Lions pulled away with the lead and won the set, and subsequently the match, 25-20. 
 
The Lions were led by #5 Emily Hanson with 11 total kills, #3 Hallie Richardson with 9, and #15 Aleksandra Hamuda with 8 total kills. The team was also led by libero #4 Victoria Alexander with 13 total digs throughout the match. 
 
The Valkyries were led by #20 Kiara Cannon with 7 kills and #2 Brittany Tepedino with 6, as well as libero #17 with 11 total defensive digs. However, these stats were not enough to overtake the Lions.
