Game 2 -
In the second game of the double header, the Lady Lions were ahead, 2-1, when play had to stop due to a tornado warning and rain in the bottom of the third.
After the delay, the Lions came out strong,
Kya Santiago hit a triple that let
Brighton Harder score, giving the lions a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth. At the bottom of the fifth, the Valkyries were determined to score some runs and took on the lead, 3-4.
In the top of the 7th inning, the Lions had to dig deep and find a way to win the game.
Isabelle Petty's bunt allowed
Kya Santiago to score and tie the game, 4-4. With 2 outs, the Lions kept hitting the ball,
Ally Harris' doubled to left field and
Abbey Sims singled to right field, gave the Lions the lead, 5-4.
Brighton Harders single to left field, allowed
Abbey Sims to score and the lions ended the inning, 6-4. The Valkyries were determined to score again, however,
Sydney Blackmon's pitching proved to be to strong for them as the Valkyries struck out swinging.
Dani Fairey took the win for the Lions, and
Sydney Blackmon took the save.
Brighton Harder and
Kya Santiago led the Lions with the hits, with Harder collecting four and Santiago collecting three. Harris earned two double and Santaigo earned one triple.
