INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second time in program history the Emmanuel College men's basketball team has earned a spot for the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship. The Lions have been selected as the No. 4 seed for the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Southeast Regional Championship, announced via the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship selection show Sunday night on NCAA.com.
 
The six-team Division II Southeast Regional Championship will be held inside B. Frank "Tex" Turner Arena for the fourth time in seven years Saturday and Sunday, March 13-14 and Tuesday, March 16. LMU was selected to host the regional championship for the fifth time in seven seasons on Friday, Feb. 12 with the NCAA Division II Championships Committee choosing predetermined regional sites for 2021 in light of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic.
 
Winning the Conference Carolinas regular season title twice, the Lions own a 15-6 record on the season, and are bidding for the NCAA Championship win. 
 
Fourth-seeded Emmanuel will face fifth-seeded Queens in the second game Saturday at 8:45 p.m. The top two seeds in the regional championship will receive quarterfinal byes with second-seeded LMU awaiting the winner of Carson-Newman and Tusculum and top-seeded Belmont Abbey awaiting the winner of Emmanuel and Queens. 

A regional champion will be crowned and a spot in the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Elite Eight will be clinched Tuesday, March 16 with the Division II Southeast Regional Championship title game scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip in Harrogate.

For the 2021 Division II Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, the traditional regional alignments were adjusted to a blended regional alignment to provide more equitable opportunity for teams to advance to their respective championship while attempting to maintain geographic proximity for the schools in the regional. The one-year regional alignment, which was implemented due to the scheduling complexities of the COVID-19 global pandemic, is made up of the SAC, Conference Carolinas and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) for the NCAA Southeast Region.
