Box Score Franklin Springs, Ga—Lady Lions fall to the Barton Bulldogs in the Conference tournament. Emmanuel Women's Volleyball, number 3 in Conference, was defeated tonight by #6 Barton in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament play.
The past few times these teams have met, the battle has been intense and the matches went to 5 sets to determine the winner. Tonight, however, the battle was over after three set wins by the Bulldogs.
The first set of the match was a slow start, each team fighting for points and maintaining a steady battle. The Bulldogs finally pulled out the lead with kills by #1 Allison Gambill and #6 Kaytlin Elkins to win the set 25-23.
The Bulldogs outscored the Lions with 39 total match kills, opposed to Lions 30, assisting the match win.
The second set began with a lion lead in the point battle, leading all the way up until the final few points when the Bulldogs tied them at 20, taking over the lead and winning 25-22.
The third and final set started out on a high, seeming to turn around for the Lions, who were leading 13-9 when Barton had a 6 point roll, and two 4 point rolls that allowed the Bulldogs to secure the match victory 25-17.
The Lions, despite the loss, were led by #11
Mia Cotton with 10 kills, 1 ace, and 8 digs; #15
Aleksandra Hamuda with 9 kills; #7
Jamie Clark with 13 assists, 1 ace, and 10 digs; #12
Gabrielle McGlamery with 10 assists; and #4
Victoria Alexander with 13 defensive digs.
The Bulldogs were led to victory by #6 Kaytlin Elkins with 19 total kills, #1 Allison Gambill with 8 kills, #14 Kate Lawrence with 5 blocks, #2 Sarah Kirk with 32 assists, and #4 Madison Greene with 18 defensive digs and 3 aces.
