TRAVELLERS REST, SC - The men's volleyball team continued post-season play on Tuesday in their quarterfinals match against North Greenville University. The Lions fell to the Crusaders in three sets, 3-0. 

The first set began with a back and forth exchange until the score was tied at five. The set stayed close until the score was 19-17, the Crusaders holding a two point lead.  However, a 6-2 run for North Greenville gave them the set, 25-19. 

The Crusaders carried their momentum into the second set, starting with a 7-1 run that gave them a six point advantage early on. The Lions got it back to a three point deficit as they trailed 13-10 in the middle of the set. However, the Crusaders proceeded to produce a four point run, extending their lead to 7 points. The Lions were unable to put together a run of their own as the Crusaders took the second set, 25-17. 

The third set was tied at seven points early on. With the score tied at 11, the Crusaders went on a four point run that gave them the lead, 15-11. Following a timeout called by Emmanuel, North Greenville continued their momentum, increasing their lead to seven, 19-12. The Lions took their second timeout and proceeded to score four consecutive points, cutting the deficit to three. However, the Crusaders managed to get to game point as they led 24-19. The Lions scored two points, but it wasn't enough as the Crusaders took the set, 25-21, and the game, 3-0. 

The Lions were led by Aleksa Lakic, who finished with 8 kills, 5 digs, and an ace. Don Thompson recorded 6 kills, 4 blocks, and 3 digs. 

This concludes the 2021 men's volleyball season.
