Box Score Duncan, SC --  The Lady Lions took on the No.5 Seed, Barton College in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship. The Lions upsets the Bulldogs by winning 5-2.

The Lady Lions started off well with one runs in the first inning, as #1Ally Harris singles into center field. The Barton bulldogs would then answer back with 2 runs in the bottom of the first with a double from Rose. Throughout the innings, the Lions had numerous chances in scoring runs but was shut down by the Bulldog pitcher. 

In the top of the seventh inning the Lady Lions were trailing by one run. The Petty sisters started the comeback with a single from #16 Isabelle Petty and stealing second and third. #6 Noelle Petty would then hit a double into center field to let Belle reach home. The Lady Lions were now tied in the top of the seventh inning with one out and a full base. #7 Mackensie Hogan hits a double to left field and scoring three run, to take the lead 5-2. 

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Lions knew they had to shut down the Bulldogs. The Lady Lions started off well taking out the first two batters. The Bulldogs would then hit a double and receive a walk. #14 Dani Fairey would then come in to pitch and record the last out to earn the save for the Lions. 

#21 Sydney Blackmon got the win for the Lions. The lefthander pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. The Lady Lions did not commit a single error in the field. 

The Lady Lions will now take on #2 Mount Olive in the Semifinals of the Conference Carolinas on Saturday, April 24th at 2:00pm, at Tyger River Park, Duncan, SC.
