Box Score Dahlonega, GA— Conference Carolinas Tournament champion Emmanuel closed out its tremendous 2021 season at the NCAA Division II Softball Southeast Regional at the Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park. The Lady Lions competed against Tusculum University in the losing bracket. The Lady Lions lost to the Pioneers with a score of
The Pioneers started strong with five runs in the top of the second inning. They would then score a run in the top of the fifth inning, to keep the lead to 6-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Lady Lions fought back starting with a triple from
Lily Shelton.
Brighton Harder would reach base on a fielders error by Tusculum's third baseman to bring Shelton home. The Lady Lions were now trialing, 6-1. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lady Lions would score one run from a double by
Kaylan Pruitt deep into left field. Emmanuel were now four runs behind coming into the seventh inning.
The freshman pitcher,
Kaleigh Fowler would finished strong in the seventh inning, letting no hits from the Pioneers. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Lions were unable to score any runs even with the base hit from Harder. Tusculum narrowly out-hit the Lions, 8-7, in the game.
The Lady Lions closes out their season with a 19-29 overall, a Conference Carolinas Championship and a first time appearance in the NCAA Div II Softball Southeast Regional Championships.
