CEDAR FALLS, IA – The Emmanuel Women's Wrestling team traveled to Cedar Falls, Iowa to compete in the NCAA National Duals from January 5-6. The Lions left encouraged, going 3-2 in competition, defeating two nationally ranked teams. The Lions now sit at 9-4 on the season, 2-0 in Conference action. 
 
The Lions started off the weekend going toe-to-toe with #6 Sacred Heart University, who narrowly defeated the Lions, 24-21. A few highlights from the match were: 

• At 116 lbs. Karissa Turnwall won via fall (1:32)
• At 136 lbs. Gianna Anaya won via technical fall (11-0)
• At 191 lbs. Journey Land won via fall (4:23)

Next, the Lions squared off against #11 Aurora University, defeating the Spartans by a score of 24-23. A few highlights from the match were:

• At 116 lbs. Karissa Turnwall won via fall (0:47)
• At 143 lbs. Sofia Vergara won via fall (3:25)
• At 155 lbs. Jocelyn Yepez won via decision (8-2)
• At 170 lbs. Alyssa Arana won via fall (0:46)

In their third match of the weekend, the Lions faced #4 Colorado Mesa University, who narrowly defeated the Lions, 24-22. A few highlights from the match were:

• At 116 lbs. Karissa Turnwall won via fall (0:46)
• At 123 lbs. Makayla Correa won via decision (8-6)
• At 170 lbs. Alyssa Arana won via fall (2:09)
• At 191 lbs. Journey Land won via decision (7-2)

Next, the Lions took on #5 Lock Haven University in the semifinals, defeating the Bald Eagles 28-15.  A few highlights from the match were:

• At 116 lbs. Karissa Turnwall won via technical fall (10-0)
• At 123 lbs. Makayla Correa won via technical fall (14-3)
• At 136 lbs. Gianna Anaya won via fall (1:41)
• At 143 lbs. Sofia Vergara won via technical fall (10-0)
• At 155 lbs. Jocelyn Yepez won via technical fall (10-0)
• At 170 lbs. Alyssa Arana won via decision (8-8)
• At 191 lbs. Journey Land won via technical fall (14-4)

In their final match of the National Duals, Emmanuel defeated Elmira College 32-15. A few highlights from the match were:

• At 116 lbs. Karissa Turnwall won via fall (2:07)
• At 123 lbs. Makayla Correa won via fall (2:29)
