Winchester, TN – Emmanuel University angler, Dylan Akins saw his dream become a reality yesterday as he was named the 2024 Bassmaster College Classic Bracket Champion after a win at Tim's Ford Lake. 
 
Akins and Emmanuel fishing partner, Chase Carey were recently named the 2024 Bassmaster College Team of the Year, earning their entry to the College Classic Bracket. Carey finished the event in 5^th place.
 
On the first day of the competition, Hurricane Helene shortened the anglers time on the water. Akins finished with a total bag weight of 14-4 to put him in 2^nd place heading into the second day. On day two, Akins landed 16-0 to advance to the bracket round and give him the overall number 1 seed, with a total bag weight of 30-4. On the third day, Akins caught 16-7 to defeat Andrew Blanton, who landed 16-3. 
 
On the final day of competition, Akins faced Adrian College's, Aaron Jagfeld for the title. Jagfeld landed a total bag weight of 12-12 and Akins brought in 14lbs 12oz to earn the win. With the win, Akins earns a spot in the 2025 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Classic at Lake Ray Roberts in Fort Worth, TX.  Not only will he compete in the Classic, but Akins also earned paid entry into the 2025 St. Croix Bassmaster Opens with the use of a fully rigged Nitro Boat and a Toyota Tundra.
