FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team welcomed top-ranked Mount Olive to town today for the Lions first conference game of the season. The Trojans Got out to a quick start, scoring 11 goals in the first quarter and they controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way to take home a 23-7 win over the Lions. With the loss, the Lions fall to 5-1 on the season, 0-1 in conference play.
In the first quarter, the Trojans scored the first four goals of the game within the first few minutes of play to quickly get up 4-0. Emmanuel responded with a goal from
Lauren Kuschel, assisted by
Paige Murphy with 8:52 to play in the first to make the score 4-1. Mount Olive would close out the quarter with seven goals to take an 11-1 lead going into the second.
In the second quarter,
Meghan Jennings struck first for the Lions, assisted by
Paige Murphy to make it 11-2 with 14:10 to play in the quarter. The Trojans would tack on another goal a minute later.
Paige Murphy scored her first goal of the afternoon, assisted by Kuschel with 10:48 to play in the second to make it 12-3, Trojans. Mount olive would close out the quarter with five straight goals to make it 17-3.
In the third quarter, Mount Olive quickly tacked on another goal to make it 18-3. Murphy scored her second of the day with 13:22 to play in the quarter to make it 18-4. The Trojans closed out the quarter with two more goals to make it 20-4.
In the fourth quarter of play, the Trojans scored two in a row to make it 22-4, but the Lions responded. Jennings scored her second of the day with 6:42 to play, assisted by Kuschel to make it 22-5. With 4:46 to play, Murphy scored her third of the day to make it 22-6. Three seconds later, Murphy scored for the fourth time to make it 22-7. Mount Olive scored their final goal of the day with 3:01 to play to make the final score 23-7.
