Lions Fall to Anderson 23-15

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Anderson University Trojans tonight in non-conference play. The Trojans got off to a strong start, netting 5 goals in the first period and controlled the game the rest of the way. With the loss, the Lions fall to 8-4 on the season. 
 
In the first period, the Trojans got off to a quick start, netting the first three goals of the game to take a 3-0 lead with 10:09 to play. Lauren Kuschel scored the first goal for the Lions with 8:24 to play in the period, assisted by Demi Czynski to make it 3-1, Trojans. Anderson would score the next two, to go up 5-1 with 7:01 to play in the 1st, but the Lions responded well with two goals to close out the period. Kristie Fisher scored with 3:40 to play in the period, assisted by Czynski to make it 5-2. Paige Murphy grabbed her first goal of the game with 54 seconds to go in the period, to bring the score to 5-3, Anderson. 
 
In the second period, the Trojans took the momentum back from the Lions, scoring the first three goals of the period to go up 8-3 with 13:22 to play in the 2nd. Murphy would make it 8-4 with 12:52 to play in the period. After an Anderson goal made it 9-4, Megan Williams found the net with 10:15 to play in the 2nd, assisted by Murphy to make it 9-5. The Trojans responded to make it 10-5, but Meghan Jennings grabbed a goal with 6:47 to play in the period to cut the Trojan lead to 10-6. Anderson answered back twenty seconds later to go up 11-6, but Murphy added her third of the night with 2:21 to play in the second to make it 11-7. Anderson's Rayne Dobson one of her 8 goals of the night to make it 12-7, but Murphy responded with less than a second to play in the period, assisted by Jennings to make the score 12-8 after 2. 
 
In the third, the Trojans quickly scored two goals to make it 14-8, but the Lions would answer back with a run of their own. Murphy scored with 13:47 to play in the 3rd to make it 14-9. Fisher found the net less than a minute later to make it 14-10. Kuschel added a goal with 11:40 to play in the third to bring the score to 14-11, Trojans. Jennings kept the momentum going in the Lions favor, scoring with 10:54 to play in the third to bring the Lions within two, 14-12. The Trojans closed out the period scoring the three goals to extend their lead to 17-12. 
 
The Lions started the 4th period off strong with the first two goals. Fisher scored with 10:18 to play to make it 17-13, then Murphy grabbed her sixth of the night to make it 17-14 with 9:31 to play. Anderson would score the next four goals to go up 21-14 with 2:11 to play. Kuschel would break up Anderson's run with a goal with 2:11 to play to make it 21-15, but the Trojans would close out the game with two goals to make the final score 23-15.
