BRISTOL, TN – The Emmanuel Women's Wrestling team traveled to Bristol, TN this weekend to compete in the Tornado Duals hosted by #3 King University.
The Lions competed against two conference opponents in the University of Mount Olive and host, King University.
MOUNT OLIVE –
The Lions overcame an early 9-1 deficit to take a 30-17 victory against the Trojans by winning the final six matches.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- In the 117lb. weight class, Evelyne Vazquez won via decision (14-6).
- In the 131lb. weight class, Isabella Hoffman won via fall (0:56).
- In the 138lb. weight class, Gianna Anaya won via fall (4:12).
- In the 145 lb. weight class, Gianna Dibendetto won via fall (1:10).
- In the 160lb. weight class, Kendra Heroch won via decision (16-15).
- In the 180lb. weight class, Alyssa Arana won via fall (0:56).
- In the 207lb. weight class, Gemma Templeton won via decision (4-1).
KING UNIVERSITY –
The Lions continued Tornado Duals with a dual against national powerhouse, #3 King University Tornado. The Tornado got off to a strong start, taking a 21-0 lead after winning the first five matches. The Lions responded well earning the next five wins, three via forfeit.
HIGHLIGHTS
- In the 138 lb. weight class, Gianna Anaya won via fall (2:26).
- In the 207 lb. weight class, Gemma Templeton won via fall (3:49).
The Lions will be back in action again tomorrow as they compete in the King Open.
