Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Tennis team opened up their home season with a match against North Carolina Wesleyan University. The Bishops got off to a strong start, taking the doubles point. The Lions roared back to win three of the singles matches, but the Bishops edged the Lions 4-3 to earn the win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 3-5 on the season.
DOUBLES MATCHES
- At #1 Doubles, Sitgell/Knese (NCW) defeated James Girdler/Aleksander Simoski (EU) 6-4.
- At #2 Doubles, Nishizoe/Stoltz (NCW) defeated Henrique Csatro/Alejandro Gomez (EU) 6-3.
- At #3 Doubles, Emmanuel's Murilo Martins/Matheus Pimenta (EU) defeated Mantes/Brice (NCW) 6-1.
SINGLES MATCHES
- At #1 Singles, Murilo Martins (EU) fell to Knese (NCW) in three sets, taking the first 7-6 before dropping the final two, 6-3, 7-5.
- At #2 Singles, James Girdler (EU) defeated Stigell (NCW) 6-4, 7-6.
- At #3 Singles, Henrique Castro (EU) defeated Nishizoe (NCW) in three sets, losing the first 6-3, before taking the final two 6-2, 7-6.
- At #4 Singles, Aleksander Simovski (EU) defeated Mantes 6-2, 6-2.
- At #5 Singles, Stolz (NCW) defeated Alejandro Gomez (EU) 6-1, 6-4.
- At #6 Singles, Brice (NCW) defeated Matheus Pimenta (EU) 6-1, 6-4.
The Lions will be back in action on Friday at 1PM as they host the King Tornado in conference action.
