Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Lake Erie College Storm this afternoon in non-conference play. The Lions jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the first quarter and controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way to earn a 20-5 victory. With the win, the Lions move to 4-3 on the season.
Paige Murphy got things started for the Lions with a goal at the 14:23 mark to put the Lions up 1-0.
Meghan Jennings found the net next with 13:46 to play in the first to make it 2-0. Less than a minute later, Paetyn Hoffman scored, assisted by
Demi Czynski to extend the Lions lead to 3-0. Czynski got in on the action with 12:46 to go, assisted by Murphy to make it 4-0. Less than a minute later,
Lexie Lee found the net, with an assist from Paetyn Hoffman to give the Lions a 5-0 lead. Murphy scored her second of the day with 8:48 on the clock, assisted by Czynski to make it 6-0, and Czynski turned around and scored her second of the day with 4:49 in the quarter, assisted by
Kristie Fisher to make it 7-0. With 3:51 to play in the first, Fisher got in on the action, assisted by Murphy to push the Lions lead to 8-0. The Storm got on the board to cut the lead to 8-1, but the Lions responded with a goal from
Taylor Schubert with 2:23 to play, assisted by Fisher to make it 9-1. Czynski closed out the quarter with a goal, assisted by Murphy to make the score 10-1 after the first.
Czynski found the net again to start off the 2
nd quarter to give the Lions an 11-1 lead. Jennings was next to score at the 8:05 mark to make it 12-1, Lions. The Storm scored the next three to cut the Lions lead to 12-4, but Murphy grabbed two goals in the last minute of the 2
nd quarter to give the Lions a 14-4 lead heading to the break.
The third quarter started the same way the 2
nd ended, with a goal by Murphy, assisted by Jennings at the 12:49 mark to make it 15-4, Lions. With 7:03 to play in the 3
rd, Murpyh scored again to make it 16-4, Lions. Jennings found the net with 5:12 to play in the quarter, assisted by Murphy to make it 17-4. Fisher closed out the quarter by scoring her second goal of the day with 19 seconds to play in the quarter, assisted by Jennings to put the Lions up 18-4.
Schubert scored her second goal of the day, assisted by Czynski to kick off the fourth quarter, to push the Lions lead to 19-4. Fisher scored again with 9:56 to play, assisted by Czynski to make it 20-4. The Storm would respond with a goal to end the game with a final score of 20-5.
Paige Murphy led the Lions with 6 goals and 4 assists, while
Demi Czynski contributed 4 goals and 4 assists.
Meghan Jennings and
Kristie Fisher added 3 goals apiece.
Emily Dawson ended the day with 4 saves in goal, and
Avery Atkins added 2 saves.
The Lions will be back in action on March 19 at 5PM as they travel to Belmont, NC to take on Belmont Abbey College in conference play.
