Lions Down Southern Wesleyan 18-3!

Franklin Springs, Ga – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team closed out conference play today against Southern Wesleyan. The Lions jumped out ahead early in the first quarter and controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way, earning an 18-3 win to cap off the regular season. With the win, the Lions improve to 8-7 on the year, 4-4 in conference action. 

Demi Czynski got the scoring started for Emmanuel with a goal, assisted by Meghan Jennings to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Mikaela Austin found the net at the 12:35 mark to make it 2-0. Jennings scored the next three for Emmanuel, with assists from Kristie Fisher, Austin, and Paige Murphy to put the Lions up 5-0 with 7:30 to play in the quarter. Murphy was next to score, assisted by Avery Jennings to make it 6-0, Lions. Jennings found the net for her 4th goal of the quarter with a second on the clock to put the Lions up 7-0 after the first.

The Lions continued their scoring run into the 2nd quarter with a goal by Austin to start things off, assisted by Fisher making it 8-0 Lions.  Avery Jennings scored the next two, with an assist by Austin to put the Lions up 10-0 with 12:11 until the half. Murphy found the net to put Emmanuel up 11-0, then a goal by Czynski, assisted by Taylor Schubert made it 12-0. With 3:46 to play in the half, Schubert grabbed a goal, assisted by Murphy to make it 13-0, Lions and Czynski closed out the quarter with a goal to make it 14-0. 

Murphy got the scoring started for the Lions in the 3rd, with a goal, assisted by Fisher to put the home team up 15-0. Schubert grabbed her 2nd goal (assisted by Czynski) to make it 16-0 with 7:12 to play in the 3rd. The Warriors got on the board with 2 consecutive goals to cut the Lions lead down to 16-2. 

Schubert grabbed her 3rd goal of the day with 8:04 to play in the 4th quarter, assisted by Lexie Lee to make it 17-2 Emmanuel. Czynski made it 18-2 with 5:09 on the clock, assisted by Jennings, but the Warriors responded with a goal to close out the game, 18-3 Lions. 

Meghan Jennings and Demi Czynski led the Lions in scoring with 4 goals apiece, while Taylor Schubert and Paige Murphy added 3 goals each.  Kristie Fisher and Mikaela Austin led the team in assists with 3 each.
