Mars Hill, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Mars Hill, NC to face the Mars Hill University Lions in non-conference action. Mars Hill took an early lead, but the Lions answered to take a 4-3 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Emmanuel exploded for 8 goals to earn the 12-4 victory. With the win, the Emmanuel Lions move to 3-3 on the season.
Mars Hill opened the game on a 2-0 scoring run to take the lead.
Demi Czynski answered to cut the Mars Hill lead to 2-1 with 6:35 to play in the first.
Meghan Jennings found the net early in the 2
nd period, assisted by
Kamryn Courage to tie the game at 2-2, then a goal from Czynski, assisted by
Olivia Wallach made it 3-2, Emmanuel Lions, midway through the period.
Lexi Lee found the net with 4:52 to play in the 2
nd, assisted by
Mikaela Austin to put the Lions up 4-2 but the Mars Hill Lions answered to make it 4-3 Emmanuel heading into halftime.
Lexi Lee started things off for Emmanuel in the 3
rd period, scoring with 8:32 on the clock, assisted by
Kristie Fisher to make it 5-3, Emmanuel.
Taylor Schubert got in on the action, assisted by Fisher, following a 6-goal performance against Montevallo, to give the Lions a 6-3 lead. Mars Hill closed out the 3
rd with a goal to make it 6-4 heading into the final period.
The fourth period was all Emmanuel. Wallach found the net to put the Lions up 7-4, then scored for a second time in the afternoon, assisted by Austin to make it 8-4, Lions. Czynski scored her third with 5:39 to play to make it 9-4, Lions then Fisher got in on the action, scoring with 3:36 to play, assisted by Czynski to give the Lions a 10-4 lead. Czynski scored her fourth goal less than 30 seconds later, assisted by Wallach and Wallach closed out the scoring with 1:15 on the clock, assisted by Schubert to make the final score 12-4, Emmanuel.
Demi Czynski led the Lions with 4 goals and an assist on the afternoon, with
Olivia Wallach adding 3 goals and 2 assists.
Kristie Fisher and
Mikaela Austin also picked up 2 assists on the day.
Emily Dawson led the Lions in goal with 6 saves.
Next up the Lions will travel to West Palm Beach, FL to play Palm Beach Atlantic University on March 10
th.
