Edwards, Templeman Shine at Blue Raider Open!

COLUMBIA, KY – The Emmanuel Women's Wrestling team traveled to Columbia, KY over the weekend to compete in the Blue Raider Open hosted by Lindsey Wilson University. Several Lions earned podium finishes with Kalayah Edwards and Gemma Templeman leading the way with first place finishes. 

RESULTS
  • At 124 lbs. Kalayah Edwards finished first with four victories via fall. 
    • She started off the tournament with a fall (0:19) over Adeline Harper of Brewton-Parker College, 6-0. 
    • Next, Edwards defeated Ariel Goble of Andrew College via fall (1:04, 4-0). 
    • Edwards followed that up with a 8-0 victory via fall against Kalliscya Gardner of Lindsey Wilson University (2:11).
    • In the final, Edwards downed Jes'onia Barefield of Georgetown College via fall, (10-2, 1:54).
       
  • At 207 lbs. Gemma Templeman finished first with two wins by fall and one by decision. 
    • Templeman started things off with a win by fall over Lexiana Garcia (8-0, 3:29).
    • Next, Templeman downed Emma Lozada of Emory & Henry by fall (9-0, 2:58). 
    • In the final, Templeman earned a decision victory over Taylor Schiesser of Lindsey Wilson University (2-1).  
       
  • At 145lbs. Alexandra Ford finished 2nd with a record of 3-1 on the day. 
    • Ford started off the day with a tech fall over Ryan Garthoeffner of Lindenwood University, (10-0, 2:40).
    • Next, Ford downed Hailie Misplay of Greensboro College by tech fall (12-2, 3:00). 
    • Next, Ford faced Maggie Ortmann of Missouri Baptist College winning by decision (7-2), before falling in the final by fall, 8-4 to Molly Keller of Emory & Henry (4:03). 
       
  • At 138 lbs. Gianna Dibenedetto placed 2nd with a record of 3-1 on the day. 
    • Dibenedetto opened up they day with a decision victory over Taylor Dawson (11-4). 
    • Next, Dibenedetto faced Nadia Miller of Andrew College winning by tech fall (4:54). 
    • Dibenedetto kept things going with a decision win over Lexi Ritchie of Lindsey Wilson University (8-4) before falling to Jacinda Espinosa of Lindenwood by fall (6-0, 2:41). 
       
  • At 103 lbs. Rebekah Jean-Baptiste finished 3rd with a record of 4-1 on the day. 
    • Jean-Baptiste started the day with a tech fall victory over Immawnie Walden of Andrew College (12-1, 2:42).
    • Next, she tech falled Lillian Hackworth of Missouri Baptist College, (11-0, 2:11) before falling to Ryleigh Sturgill by tech fall (10-0, 0:34). 
    • Jean-Baptiste closed out the day strong earning tech falls over Mylee Goodwin (13-2, 5:08) and Skyler Randolph of Lindsey Wilson (14-4, 4:50). 
       
  • At 180 lbs. Riauna Lugo finished 3rd on the day with a record of 2-1 in the tournament. 
    • Lugo started the day off with a win via fall over Alyssa Pinkston (6-0, 1:56).
    • After falling to Larissa Gallo (5-0, 1:42), Lugo bounced back with a decision victory over Kaylyn Lawson of Georgetown College (8-0).
Next, the Lions will travel to Mount Olive, NC to face University of Mount Olive and Bluefield State in conference action on Tuesday.
