Young Harris, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse traveled to Young Harris, GA to take on Young Harris College in conference action. The two teams went goal for goal, ending the first half tied at 7-7. The Mountain Lions pulled ahead in the third period, but the Lions rallied in the 4
th to keep things close, falling 14-11. With the loss, the Lions fall to 4-5 on the season, 1-1 in conference action.
Meghan Jennings opened up the scoring, getting the Lions on the board 1-0 with 13:57 to play in the first. The Mountain Lions responded to tie the game at 1-1, but Paetyn Hoffman answered to put the Lions up 2-1 with 10:06 to play in the first period. Young Harris tied the game with 7:13 to play in the 1
st, 2-2 but
Demi Czynski scored two minutes later to give the Lions a 3-2 lead. The Mountain Lions scored the next two to take a 4-3 lead, but
Kristie Fisher found the net with 3:25 to play in the first to tie the game at 4-4. Young Harris closed the period out with a goal to take a 5-4 lead into the 2
nd.
Taylor Schubert tied the game at 5-5 early in the 2
nd and Hoffman scored her 2
nd of the night 30 seconds later, assisted by
Olivia Wallach to put the Lions up 6-5 with 11:07 to play in the period. Young Harris scored the next two to pull ahead, 7-6 but the Czynski found the net for her 2
nd goal of the night with :45 seconds left in the period to tie the game at 7-7 heading into the half.
The Mountain Lions controlled the pace of the game in the 3
rd period, outscoring the Lions 4-0 to take the 11-7 lead.
The Lions responded well in the 4
th. Young Harris added a goal to their lead early in the 4
th, to take a 12-7 lead but the Lions scored the next three. Czynski opened up the scoring with 10:26 to play to make it 12-8, Young Harris. Fisher was next to score, cutting the Mountain Lions lead to 12-9, then Czynski scored to close out the Lions 3-0 run to make the score 12-10, YHC with 5:13 to play. The Mountain Lions scored the next two to go up 14-10, but the Lions closed the game with a goal from Fisher, assisted by Wallach to make the final score 14-11, Young Harris.
Demi Czynski led the Lions with 4 goals on the night, with
Kristie Fisher adding 3.
Olivia Wallach ended the night with 2 assists, with
Avery Atkins picking up 9 saves in goal.
