Durham, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Flag Football team traveled to Durham, NC to face Barton College in the first round of the inaugural Conference Carolinas Championship.
The Bulldogs started strong, outscoring the Lions 19-6 in the first quarter. The Lions responded well to make it 32-18 heading into halftime. The Lions outscored the Bulldogs 13-7 in the second half to keep the game close, but the Bulldogs edged the Lions 39-31.
Lillian Stephenson ended the day completing 34 of 47 passes for 313 yards and 5 touchdowns. She threw 3 interceptions on the afternoon.
Stephenson led the Lions in rushing with 61 yards on 13 carries, with
Sydne Stoker adding 55 yards on 4 carries.
Cailin Robinson had a big day at receiver, hauling in 9 catches for 84 yards and a score.
Gwen Carter caught 5 passes for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Elzie Baker and
Shayne Cooper-Riley each caught a touchdown.
Defensively, the Lions were led by Kylie Warren-Young who had 10 flag pulls on the afternoon.
Jamiese Spivey picked up 8 flag pulls, with Warren-Young and Spivey adding a broken-up pass.
Sydne Stoker caught the only interception on the afternoon, returning it for 10 yards.
