The Athletic Department of Emmanuel College is a competitive athletics program distinguished by Christ-centered, academically focused, and community minded teams. We desire to instill in our student-athletes a strong emphasis on character and leadership to best prepare them for life after college athletics.

EMMANUEL COLLEGE ATHLETICS PURPOSE STATEMENT

The purpose of the Athletic Department is to provide a quality intercollegiate athletic program in a Christian College environment. Emmanuel College’s athletic programs are provisional members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, and full members of the National Christian College Athletic Association, Division I (NCCAA) and also participate in Conference Carolinas. The Athletic Department is committed to providing close interaction between its coaches, staff, and student athletes that will allow all participants an opportunity to strive for their personal best. We believe athletic participation on an intercollegiate team, with intentional Christian leadership, will provide student athletes a more balanced opportunity to grow spiritually as they develop a lifelong passion for learning, leadership, resourcefulness, teamwork, sportsmanship, Christian witness, and service.

The athletic programs challenge students to develop holistically in mind, body, and spirit. This allows each student to learn the importance of hard work, integrity, creative thinking, healthy living, responsibility to a team, and spiritual maturity.

NCAA DIVISION II

Emmanuel College athletics is aligned with the NCAA DII and the strategic positioning platformnwhich is centered on life in the balance.

Life in the Balance

Higher education has lasting importance on an individual’s future success. For this reason, the emphasis for the student-athlete experience in Division II is a comprehensive program of learning and developing in a personal setting. The Division II approach provides growth opportunities through academic achievement, learning in high-level athletic competition, and development of positive societal attitudes in service to community. The balance and integration of these different areas of learning opportunities provide Division II student-athletes a path to graduation, while cultivating a variety of skills and knowledge for life ahead.

CONFERENCE CAROLINAS

The mission of the Conference Carolinas is to unite independent colleges and universities with a comparable liberal arts focus that provides institutionally controlled intercollegiate athletic opportunities that enhance the educational experience of all students and promote the mission of member institutions.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference that supports 20 season-ending conference championship tournaments with ten women's and ten men's sports.

Conference Commissioner, Dr. Alan Patterson says about the conference, "Conference Carolinas is recognized regionally and nationally as a premier NCAA Division II conference which champions scholarship athletics working in concert with student athletes committed to academic success."
