Male Athlete of the Year
KJ Jones (Men’s Basketbal)l: Bevo Francis Final 10, NCAA All American 2nd Team, All Conference 1st Team, NCAA All Region, Leading Scorer in NCAA DII most of the season, Conference Carolina's Tournament MVP, All-Tournament Team, Elite 23 Award

Micah Clemson (Men’s Wrestling): Micha Clemson, 197lb Regional placer and national qualifier. Went on a 5 pin streak to end the regular season. Qualified for the NCAA DII Wrestling Championships

Luis Da Silva (Men’s Swimming): Competed in NCAA National Championships in 5 events, 3 x All-American (100/200 breast, 200 medley relay), Finished 5th overall in 100 breast at NCAA National Championships, 6 x Conference Carolinas Champion (setting 3 Conference Carolinas records), 1 EC School Record (200 breast) breaking previous National Champion Joao Santos school record 

Henrick Westhoff (Men’s Volleyball): He has led the Emmanuel offense for 4 years. He garnered is 3,000 assist during this season becoming the first in program history. He was named Conference Specialist of the week during the week of Jan 9, 2023. He Leads the Lions in assist and assist/set with 865 for 9.51 assist/set. He sits number 3 on team with 134 digs at 1.54 digs/set. He sits number 3 on blocks blocks/set. He leads the lions in aces and aces/set.

Female Athlete of the Year
Maddie Edwards (Softball): Madison Edwards is the leading Pitcher in Conference. ERA of 2.08. 17 Wins. 134 Strike outs in 20 games pitched. Is on the Tucci/NFCA pitcher of the Year watch list. Has been named pitcher of the week twice this season.

Justin Dorales (Women’s Lacrosse): 49 points, .457 shooting %,  64 Draw controls.  First in conference for goals per game with 15. Second in conference for points per game with 15. First in shots per game with 15.

Taylor Roberts (Women’s Volleybal)l:  the Lions and the Conference in Hitting percentage with .422 within Conference and total blocks and blocks/set with 84 total block leading to 1.47 blocks/set in conference play. She was .42 above the next closest person for blocks/set. Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Team All Conference. finished in the top 10 for points/set in the Conference. 3 game stretch where she hit 32 kills 0 errors on 42 attempts for insane .762 hitting percentage. 

Susana Ungo (Women’s Swimming): Competed in her first NCAA National Championship (in 2 events) 1 x All-American (200 Fly), 5 x Conference Carolinas Champion (setting 3 Conference Records), MVP - Conference Carolinas Conference Championships, 5 EC School Records (200/400 IM, 400 medley relay, 400/800 free relay)

Biggest Upset of the Year
Acro & Tumbling: A&T win over D1 Presbyterian College scoring 248.25 to 246.34, also a new program high score!

Men’s Soccer: As number 8 seed in the Conference Carolinas, defeated 5 seed Mt Olive, and 4 seed Chowan to advance to the Semi finals of the championship.

Men’s Basketball: Defeated Nationally Ranked and Top ranked in the REGION UNCP in an 81-66 victory. 

Men’s Golf: Team win at Bob Diddle Intercollegiate, definitely not expected. Beat Tusculum to win the ten-team event at Tusculum’s home course. They were also 40 spots ahead of us in the rankings at the time.

Record Breaking Male Performance
Brandon Martin (Men’s Cross Country): broke the school record in Cross Country 8k and Indoor Track 3000m.

Bartosz Mielniczuk (Men’s Swimming): Competed in NCAA National Championships (in 6 events) 2 x All-American (50 free, 200 medley relay), 7 x Conference Carolinas Champion (setting 2 Conference Carolinas records), MVP - Conference Carolinas Conference Championships, Freshmen of the Year - Conference Carolinas Conference Championships, 1 EC School Record (50 free) breaking Olympian Alex Sobers school record

Tyler Mayfield (Baseball): broke the single season saves record (7) with 15 games remaining.  Leads the conference in saves for 2023 with 

Nick Dishinger (Men’s Bowling): 1st ever Male Bowler from Emmanuel to advance to the Intercollegiate Singles National Championships. Only 16 Individual Male Bowlers advance to the finals out of 805 entries

Record Breaking Female Performance
Susana Ungo Ouero (Women’s Swimming): Susan Ungo 400 IM finished 1st (4:26.07) in a new conference record, EC record, and NCAA cut, 5 x Conference Carolinas Champion (setting 3 Conference Records), MVP - Conference Carolinas Conference Championships, 5 EC School Records (200/400 IM, 400 medley relay, 400/800 free relay)

Amore Marshall (Women’s Volleyball): program record 9 service aces against UNC- Pembroke in the 3-1 road victory.

Women’s Golf Team: Team scoring average is currently 10 shots better than the program record previously set in the 2021-2022 season. The women’s team also shot the lowest 18-hole total in program history (311 at the Barton Intercollegiate). 2nd, 3rd, and 4th low 36 hole total at the following events respectfully

Joan Green (Clay Target): She is the overall top female trap champion for 74 collegiate teams at “ACUI/SCTP National Championship “by hitting a perfect score of 100 straight and then followed by 25 straight winning by 3 over her opponent who also shot 100 straight. She shot a perfect score.

Spud Webb (Men’s Basketball): FG% .528, 3PTFG%-.382, FT%-.792, Rebounds- 6.8, PPG-14.4
field goal percentage of .528 and a 3-point field goal percentage of .382 free-throw percentage of .792, averages 6.8 rebounds per game and 14.4 points per game

Scooter Ligon (Bass Fishing): Since January 1st he has had 1st on Lanier with 19.03 and big fish of 5.05, 2nd on Lake Chatuge  with 17.66, 2nd on Lanier in Boating, Atlanta with 20.84, 6th on Lake Lanier with 17.28, 19th On Hartwell BFL, He is always eager and willing to help with any projects or community service, Maintains a good GPA, Good Christian young man, leading by example

Hailey Jansky (Women’s Bowling): Top 25 in USBC Collegiate Top Rookie rankings for Average and Average Differential, Named Conference Freshman Bowler of the Month for January, 2 time Conference Bowler of the Week, 3 Top 10 individual finishes, Name to 2 All Tournament Teams, Finalist for Conference Freshman of the Year Named All Conference Team

Alyssa Arana (Women’s Wrestling): 38-11 record, started every match, beat multiple national qualifiers, Finals of 4 tournaments, National Qualifier,

Coach of the Year
Joey Kendrick (Bowling): Conference Coach of the Year. Men’s team ranked 32nd Nationally. Only Second season with women’s team as an NCAA sport and is ranked 41st nationally.

Bass Fishing (Brooks & Max): Brooks Anderson/ Max Heaton; leading Team of the year with Bassmaster college series. They have a 2nd in Palmetto Boat Center championship, 5th Harris Chain Leesburg Fl, 8th place Lake Cherokee Tn. They are straight A students, Are successful in numerous other circuits as a team and individually

Men’s Basketball: Conference Champions

Men’s Swimming: Conference Champions, 12-1 dual meet record, Conference Carolinas Champions (3rd year in a row) , 22 conference champions, 10 conference records, 8 school records, 19th place team overall at NCAA National Championships (8 All-Americans) 

Baseball: Baseball (20-15, 9-9)

Winner: Bass Fishing (Brooks & Max)

Female Team of the Year:
Women’s Swimming: Conference Champions 16-1 dual meet record, Conference Carolinas Champions (2nd year in a row) , 16 conference champions, 8 conference records, 16 school records, 34th  place team overall at NCAA National Championships (2 All-Americans) 

Women’s Volleyball: Had program best 24 wins going 24-8. This included a regular season division and conference title with a 17-1 conference record. Regionally ranked in all 3 poles for the first time in program history. Led the conference in Points per set, Opponent hitting percentage, Hitting percentage, Kills, Opponent blocks, Blocks, and Opponent service aces. Won the conference Sportsmanship award. Went a perfect 12-0 at home this season extending it to an active 20 match home winning streak. Also has a team GPA 3.79 for the fall semester

Women’s Triathlon: 3rd place team, East Regional Championships (Virginia in October), 6th place team, NCAA National Championships (Arizona in November), 2nd place team, Open Water National Championships (Florida in December)

Women’s Soccer: Conference Carolinas Semi-finalist
