Alejandra Guerrero is a tennis player and student-athlete from Cartagena, Colombia.

“I started to play tennis when I was seven years old,” explains Alejandra, member of the women’s tennis team. “My dad plays tennis, and he is the one that started to teach me at a young age,” she adds.

Although she was born and raised in Colombia, she moved with her family to Jacksonville, Florida, around two years ago. Right now, Alejandra is one month away to complete her Freshman year while pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
Alejandra found out about Emmanuel College and decided to sign about a year ago. “I came to EC to give my best, improve my tennis, and become part of a team.” 

“My favorite part of playing tennis is competing,” explains Alejandra. “Here at EC, I have learned how to play as a team, and I have come to enjoy it.” Besides, the young tennis player enjoys representing the school wherever she goes and playing not only for her but also for her team.

Alejandra is very grateful for this opportunity and what is bringing her on and off the tennis courts. As a tennis player, she enjoys team practices and the way coaches do their job and motivate her. As a student, she likes EC's familiar atmosphere and how helpful teachers and community members are. 

When asked about her advice to future international student-athletes who want to follow her steps in the future, she highly encourages them to live this experience as it helps you grow in many ways. 

She shares some life advice with all of us, “Do not let life obstacles limit yourself because it never gets easier, you just get better. Stay positive, work hard, and make your dreams a reality.”
