Lauren Castillon is a tennis player from Roquefort Les Pins, France.
She is an international student-athlete cursing a major in Graphic Design, currently a Junior in the tennis courts, but a Senior in the classroom. Equally important, she has been shaped by photography and drawing, her two main hobbies.
Since the beginning, Lauren has had a unique story with tennis.
“I was only three years old when I had my first contact with tennis," explains Lauren, a member of the women’s tennis team. “However, it wasn’t until I was eleven that I started playing seriously and tennis stuck with me."
The time came when she realized that tennis was more than a passion and she felt the need to prepare herself for what was coming next. She would come to the United States to study and combine sport at its highest level.
“Becoming a student-athlete means investing in yourself," Lauren adds, “being an athlete doesn’t only teach us about sports, it teaches us the most important values in life: respect, determination, and humility.”
There was a time when Lauren did not know that coming to the U.S. would be one of the best decisions she ever made, which is why she encourages all international students to pursue their dreams and go for it. “Any of the reasons that might scare you right now, will seem insignificant once you take the risk,” explains Lauren.
As of right now, May 2022 is Lauren’s expected graduation date. Her plans after graduating are to pursue a master’s in graphic design here in the United States or in someplace in Europe that she has yet to discover.
