Kethan Darbar is entering his tenth year at Emmanuel University. Darbar is a native of São Paulo, Brazil where he attended Colégio Sâo Vicente de Paulo. Darbar played Tennis for all four years at The University of Memphis – Lambuth, where he earned his B.S in Sports Management and Health & Human Performance.
Before starting his tenure as the current Assistant AD for Sports Communication. Kethan served at the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach for the Lions from 2014-2024. During this time, he helped the Women's Team with a Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019 and a regular season win in 2021. The men's side secured a top 30 NCAA national ranking for the first time in 2022 and they have remained ranked nationally since then. The Emmanuel Lions Tennis earned several Conference Carolinas' player of the week awards, 10 consecutive ITA All-Academic Team and multiple individual ITA All-Academic Awards, a Conference Carolinas' player of the year, and tournament MVP.
Prior joining the EU Lion’s Staff, Coach Darbar worked for almost four seasons at King University where he helped the Tornado to earn three consecutive conference Carolina’s tournament appearance. Darbar also helped the Tornado to earn 11 consecutive wins in two different seasons. In his last season at King, the men’s team finished in second, after the regular season play. In 2015, Darbar also finished his M.S in Sports Science & Health.
Coach Darbar is a certified professional coach through the United States Professional Tennis Association and he is also a certified Personal Trainer and conditioning coach by the International Sports Science Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Before starting his coaching career, Coach Darbar was a competitive player at the Regional, National, and International level, with vast experience in ITF tournaments while representing GTC Sports and then EGA Tennis Academy.
