Emmanuel College Athletic Director Nate Mooreman has namedMonica Scott as the new Women's Lacrosse Head Coach. Mooremancommented, "We're pleased to have Monica on board. She brings a lotof energy and vision to our women's lacrosse program. We're excitedabout the future of women's lacrosse at Emmanuel under Monica'sleadership." Scott comes to Emmanuel after receiving her Master'sdegree in Sports Management from the University of Georgia and herBachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University ofKentucky. During her time at UGA, Scott has worked in many roleswith the Athens First Methodist Church, the UGA AthleticDepartment, and UGA Club Sports.

Coach Scott brings a wealth of lacrosse experience with her asshe has played over a decade of competitive lacrosse. Hailing fromRoanoke, Virginia, Scott lettered all four years in high schoolwhile being named a 4x All-District, 3x All-Region and 1x All-Statehonoree before being selected as the Southwest Virginia Player ofYear her senior year. She also competed on the national clubcircuit with the Blue Ridge Select team out Charlottesville forfour years. Scott excelled collegiately in the WCLA all four yearsat the University of Kentucky where she served as a UK captain andwas selected as the Team MVP three of her four years for theWildcats. Scott added, "I am ecstatic with the opportunity to coachat Emmanuel College where I can facilitate growth both spirituallyand athletically. With our debut in the NCAA Division II leaguethis season, I can't wait to get started and see this team rise tothe occasion."

The Lady Lions Lacrosse program is coming off their mostsuccessful season and is entering just their third year ofcompetition. The 2014-2015 season also marks a historical momentfor Emmanuel College Lacrosse as they begin fully competing at theNCAA DII level in Conference Carolinas, making Emmanuel the onlyNCAA DII lacrosse program in Georgia that has a conferenceaffiliation which sponsors lacrosse.
