MURFREESBORO, N.C.- The Emmanuel College Soccer Lions took on the Hawks of Chowan University on Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the NCCAA South Region Tournament.

The Lions started the first half the better of the two teams getting shots in at goal early on, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The Lions went into the half with an 8-5 advantage on the shot count.

Emmanuel struggled to take the momentum from the opening half into the second half and they were punished in the 60thminute when Christian Funes scored what would be the game winner.

Emmanuel's goalkeeper Ryan Brose tallied five saves during the duration of the game while the Hawks goalkeeper was forced to make seven saves on the day.

The Lions end a disappointing season with a record of 5-11-2.
