Box Score Emmanuel Lions had a great run at the National Championship, competing against some of the best schools in the nation. Unfortunatelly, EC soccer team lost to Bethel College, who eventually went on to play in the Championship match against Southern Wesleyan University.
Coach Borchers had his opinion considering national championship, commenting: "I am extremely proud of these guys for their performances at the National Tournament. We showed that we deserved to be playing on the National stage with the way we performed in Florida. This was a fantastic experience for these young players and makes us all hungry to achieve something like this again in the future"
Some of the soccer Lions were recognized nationally at this tournament:
Freshman, Craig Russell had stand-out performances at the tournament and earned himself a spot on the NCCAA National Tournament All-Tournament Team.
Senior, Mark Shrosbree was named to the NCCAA All-American 2nd team. Mark is just the third player to achieve this high recognition in the Borchers coaching era.
Overall, it was a very strong performance by Lions throughout the season and the national tournament.
