Lions defeated in conference opener

Box Score

Bristol, TN - The Emmanuel College soccer lions travelled to Bristol, Tennessee to take on the King University Tornados in their first conference game of the 2015 season.

The Lions started the better of the two teams and had several opportunities to take the lead in the first half, but could not find the net. The Lions were made to pay for their missed opportunities, when in the 31st minute Faber Bickerstaffe gave the Tornados the lead.

When the teams came back out for the second half it would be King who would strike first. Poor defensive play from Emmanuel allowed King forward Chris Hicks in behind to put the Tornados into a 2-0 lead.
The Lions pressed hard to get back into the game, and finally pulled a goal back in the 82nd minute when Nick Miller found the back of the net from a rebound off a defensive block. The Lions pushed for the equalizing goal in the closing minutes but could not generate a scoring opportunity. The game would finish 2-1 to King.
The Lions fall to 2-1 and 0-1 in conference play while the Tornados are 2-2 and 1-0 in conference play.

Emmanuel will look to bounce back on Tuesday night as the take on Limestone College in their conference home opener with kick-off scheduled for 7pm.
