Box Score 2 Franklin Springs, Ga - The Women's Volleyball team traveled first to South Carolina to take on the Saints of Limestone. The first set started with a few kills to put the saints in the lead. The lions fought back with a few kill of their own, but the saints retained the lead the rest of the set. The second and third sets were almost identical as the Saints again started out on top, outplayed the Lions with their offense, and kept a comfortable lead to close out the match 18-25, 15-25, 15-25. The lions were led by Erica Burnham with 9 kills and 4 aces.
The next day resulted in a different outcome for the lions. Emmanuel faced the Converse College Valkyries. Emmanuel had a much better start this game taking an early lead and going on a few runs to stay ahead the whole set. With a more dominate offense and some errors on the Valkyries part, Emmanuel closed out the first set 25-18. The second set again went to the lions as they only let Converse score one point for every two of their own. Converse fought back in the third set going on a couple runs of their own. some kills by Kylah Maxwell-Brown and Abby Bradford kept the lions alive, but the Valkyries closed out the third set 19-25. The final set was the closest one of the night. Emmanuel's Erica Burnham and Julie de Blanck kept the lions in the lead the whole time and allowed them to close out the last set. The scores were 25-18, 25-12, 19-25, 25-22. The Lions were led by Erica Burnham with 14 kills and Kylah Maxwell-Brown with 10 kills.
The Lady Lions will be back in action this Tuesday when they will travel to Albany State. First serve at 6PM!
