Box Score Emmanuel Lions hosted the King University Tornados Friday evening with a hard fought 5 set nail biter. Emmanuel, 1-7 on the season were hungry for their first win at home as they finished the first set, 25-23 in Emmanuel's favor.
In the second set, King University bounced back with a set win, 25-18, with a hitting percentage of .435 to Emmanuel's .367.
The third set turned in the Lion's favor as they fired on all cylinders to set victory, 25-19, hitting a .462 in the set putting the tally at 2-1 in the Lions favor.
As the teams switch sides, so did the momentum. The Lions struggled to get the offense rolling again, hitting a dismal -.037 on 27 attempts setting King University with a 4th set win, sending the game to 5 sets as the Tornados won, 15-8.
Middle blockers Ackeem West and Don Thompson led the Lions with a total of 22 kills and 6 solo blocks. Senior, Gilberto Cervantes was able to facilitate on the outside with 23 attempts with a kill percentage at .348 and 6 digs. Senior, Stephen Diaz, led both teams with an incredible 16 digs.
