Box Score The Lions (1-8) hosted the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College (3-5) on Saturday, with a thrilling 5 setter. The first set only set the stage for what would be a balanced game between both sides as the Lions secured a set victory at 26-24 with 12 kills, hitting at .308.
The second set, was just as nerve racking as the first, ended with another Lions victory at 27-25 despite a slow start. The Lions were able to attribute this keep the Bobcats at a .033 hitting percentage whilst being able to maintain a .265 hitting percentage.
As the third set initiated, the Bobcats were able to gain a set win at 25-21.
With the fourth set underway, the Lions were unable to get going offensively with only 8 kills and 8 errors as the Bobcats won, 25-16.
Another slow start for the Lions as they began the 5th set, and though had a better hitting percentage, were unable to win as they fell to the Bobcats 16-14.
Senior, Gilberto Cervantes led the game with 16 kills and was able to defend well for 11 digs. Don Thompson, a freshman from Hawaii, followed his senior teammate like-minded with 12 kills on 17 attempts and 2 blocks.
