Lions take a 14-point Victory over NGU

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – The Lions defeated North Greenville University, 60-74, after taking a loss in their first conference match earlier in the season.

Elijah Robinson led the Lions in their victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Following him was Emerson McClung with 14 points and Kendrick Colvin with 10 rebounds. The team shot 90% at the free throw line making 17-19 and 37% from the field.

Kendrick Colvin pushed through the defensive to score a layup after a defensive rebound from Colton Collins. The Lions took an early lead, 5-7, with a layup from Elijah Robinson. They continued to push through with shots from Emerson McClung, Austin Greene, and Kurtis Robinson to lead, 5-14. Emerson McClung was fouled to put the Lions up by eleven. Kendrick Colvin had a huge block, but North Greenville was able to rebound for the two points. Colton Collins was fouled on the next steal adding two points to the board. Jack Fitzpatrick came off the bend to sink a 3-pointer putting the Lions up 19-34. North Greenville made one more shot before halftime, but the Lions led 21-34.

Elijah Robinson fired a 3-pointer to start the second half for the Lions. North Greenville ran past the Lions defense putting up 4 shots and 4 free throws without the Lions making any. Kendrick Colvin broke the silence by making a slam dunk, with an assist from Emerson McClung. North Greenville continued to make shots, but Derek Vandiver landed his first 3-pointer of the night. Jack Fitzpatrick followed with his second 3-pointer of the night. North Greenville quickly climbed to only be down by six. With three minutes left in the game North Greenville fouled Emerson McClung and Kendrick Colvin coming off steals from Elijah Robinson and Emerson McClung. The Lions were 4-4 with those free throws and lead by twelve. North Greenville gave way four more shots to end the game with the Lions winning, 60-74.

The Lions now hold an overall record of 17-9, with a conference record of 11-5. The Lions will be on the road at King University on Wednesday, February 20th. That game will begin at 7:30 PM.
