Lions Fall to King at Last Away Game

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Lions took on King University on the road, yet walked a way with a loss, 80-93. The Lions defeated King at home early this month but did not bring home that win tonight.

The Lions shot 71% from the line and 50% from the field. Leading in scoring was Kendrick Colvin and Kurtis Robinson with 18 points each. Kendrick Colvin led in rebounds with 11 overall. Elijah Robinson and Emerson McClung did not go unnoticed scoring in double digits.

King had an early lead in the first half, 0-8. Kendrick Colvin broke the silence with a layup. Derek Vandiver entered the game and made his first 3-pointer of the night followed by a jump shot by Kurtis Robinson. After the second media timeout, King led 12-27. Kendrick Colvin made a dunk off an offensive rebound causing King to take a timeout. The Lions gave away quite a few free throws leaving room for King to walk into the second half up, 37-52.

Kendrick Colvin blasted a 3-pointer to jump start the second half, but the Lions had ground to make up. Emerson McClung fire off a few shots followed by Colton Collins and Elijah Robinson. After the first media timeout, the Lions increased their defense with repeat steals and baskets. Kendrick Colvin pulled out a dunk of King. The Lions started fouling towards the end in hopes to stop the clock and get the ball back. King made most of their free throws they were given. Kurtis Robinson was fouled making two shots and then stole the ball to go for a dunk to end the game. The Lions had impressive plays and played well, but King took the win 80-93.

The Lions now hold an overall record of 17-10, with a conference record of 11-6. The team will play at home on Friday, February 23rd in honor of Senior Night. That game will begin at 7:30 PM.
