Box Score BRISTOL, TN. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team was defeated by conference opponent King University 3-0 on Friday night. This loss brings the Lions record to 10-10 overall, 6-2 in conference.
What started as a back and forth battle quickly took a turn in favor for Emmanuel as Senior Jessica Gray put down a kill to spark a 7 point run. The Lions held a 16-9 lead before King began to fight back. After a plethora of points, King would finish their run with back to back blocks to tie up the set 19-19. Kills continued to be exchanged as the teams found themselves tied at 25-25. A kill from King's Kayley Holtzclaw would pull the Tornado ahead before one last service ace gave King the 27-25 first set victory.
The second and third sets were dominated by King who finished the night with a .273 hitting percentage. The Lions struggled with their attack and were unable to overcome the early set deficits they faced.
The EC women's volleyball team will continue action on the road tomorrow against conference opponent Lees-McRae.
