Women's Volleyball Sweeps NGU, Will Host Barton in Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals

TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team wrapped up their regular season schedule with a win over conference opponent North Greenville University on Saturday afternoon. With their 3-0 victory over NGU, the Lions improve their record to 17-12 overall, 13-3 in conference. 

Despite trailing 23-24, EC fought back with a kill from Mia Cotton to tie up the score. A Crusader attack error would put the Lions ahead before Cotton closed out the set with an ace. The Lions put down 17 kills with a .324 hitting percentage to take the opening set 26-24. 

The second set saw several lead changes including a five point run from the Crusaders. After finding themselves trailing 22-23, the Lions had to fight back once again. Senior Jessica Gray would respond with three straight kills to take set number two, 25-23.

The Lions kicked off the third set with a 4-0 run. The Crusaders would answer with four points of their own to tie up the score. A combination of EC kills and aces combined with several NGU attack errors to put the Lions ahead, 12-4. EC continued to control the court and closed out the final set 25-16.

Jessica Gray led the Lions with 13 kills.

With regular season play complete, Emmanuel advances to the Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals as the #2 seed in the West Division. The Lions will host #3 Barton College (East Division) on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30pm. The winner of this quarterfinal matchup will advance to the Conference Carolinas Final Four.
