Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fl. - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team traveled down south to face Palm Beach Atlantic University on Tuesday night. After an intense showdown lasting through double-overtime, the Lions were narrowly defeated 79-77.
The Lions put up a solid performance with a 43.9% field goal percentage and 41 rebounds. The teams exchanged leads 36 times throughout the 50 minutes of play.
After trailing 59-61 with less than 30 seconds on the clock, Senior Mikel Tyson would grab an offensive rebound and put in a layup to force the Sailfish into overtime.
Junior Tyonn Stuckey would put up 5 points in the first overtime to help the Lions hold the lead for the majority of the period. PBA would jump back ahead with a successful three-pointer from Malek Barber to jump ahead 69-68 with 26 seconds left in overtime. Sophomore Isaiah Foster responded by drawing a foul and making one of his free-throws to once again keep the Lions alive.
In the final overtime, the teams had four lead changes before finding the score tied at 77-77. With just seconds remaining on the clock, an EC foul would put Palm Beach Atlantic behind the free-throw line. The Sailfish would sink both free-throws to secure the win 79-77.
Tyonn Stuckey had a season high 23 points, Freshman Kelvin KJ Jones II followed behind with a career high 17 points.
Next up, the Lions return home on Monday, December 2nd to face Georgia College.
