Box Score BRISTOL, Tn. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team won a hard fought battle to conference opponent King University on Wednesday afternoon, 94-93. This win brings the Lions record to 7-3 overall, 4-0 in conference.
After holding the lead for most of the game, the Lions would find their lead dwindling early in the fourth quarter. King's Trinity Lee would sink a three-pointer to tie the game up for the first time since the opening five minutes of play. Junior Breanna Locke responded with a three-pointer of her own to take back the lead. A series of lead changes would follow before Junior Emily Dreslinski's jumpshot took away Kings lead and tied the score at 86-86. Junior Morgan Simmons would secure one last EC lead with a three-pointer with a minute and a half to go. The Tornado continued to pressure the Lions, but EC hit their necessary free throws and walked away with the 94-93 victory.
The Lions outshot their opponent 68.5% to 48.4% while out-rebounding the Tornado by 12. EC played most of their game in the paint while the Tornado put away 19 of their 39 attempts from behind the arc.
Breanna Locke had her second highest scoring game of the season and third double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Morgan Simmons also had her second highest season performance with 19 points.
The Lions will return to action on Thursday, January 2nd to take on conference opponent North Greenville University at home.
