Lions Down Lees-McRae, 6-1

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — The Emmanuel College men's tennis team wrapped up their weekend matches against Lees McRae College. The Lions defeated the Bobcats 6-1.

After a tough loss against King University, the Lions returned with a better performance against their conference opponent. The Lions were motivated to win, and they showed up on each court, finishing with a 6-1 victory. 

Doubles #3 composed of freshman Gustaf Ivarsson and Juan Camilo Burgos did not give any changes to their opponent to score as they won with a clean 6-0. 

#2 doubles composed by juniors Jorge Canadas and Lucas Sasaki also played a really solid game defeating their opponent 6-2. 

#1 doubles made up of Juan Carlos Romero and Kornel Kimagzewski had a tougher match as their opponents were keeping the score tight. But thanks to Romero's aggressive shots and Kimagzewski's volleys, the duo won 6-4. 

The Lions were up 1-0 heading into singles. 

Playing singles #5 was Freshman Juan Camilo Burgos who played a solid match. His consistency helped him defeat his opponent 6-2, 6-2. 

#1 single was Junior Juan Carlos Romero who stayed on top the whole match. Using an offensive game style, Romero won 6-2, 6-3. 

Lucas Sasaki playing #3 singles had a tough start as he struggled to find his rhythm. After being down 3-0, Sasaki dropped the first set 6-3. Sasaki also started behind in the second set, but managed to make his way back up using his offensive game. After winning the second set 7-5, Lucas brought his confidence up and concluded the match 6-3 in the third. 

Playing #4 singles was Junior Jorge Canadas who cruised to any easy 6-0, 6-2 win.

#2 singles was the freshman Kornel Kimagzewski who played a pro set as the match was already clinched in favor of the Lions. Kimagzewski managed to make the difference on important points and defeated his opponent 7-5 in the tie break. 

Gustaf Ivarsson playing #6 singles was the last one to step on the court for the day, unfortunately, he failed to impose his game and lost in the pro set 8-2. 

The Lions finished the day with a 6-1 win against Lees McRae College.

EC Tennis Team will be back on the road on Wednesday, March 27th to play Shorter University.
