FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team hosted the University of North Georgia for their third game of the 2019 season. The Lions notched their second victory, defeating the Nighthawks 3-1.
North Georgia's Mateo Mejia scored the first goal of the night in the 15th minute. The Lions answered 10 minutes later, in the 25th minute, when
Shane Cronin scored on a penalty kick. The back and forth battle to score another goal lasted until the 43:22 mark, when
Jeffrey Appiah scored the second goal of the night for Emmanuel off an assist from
Harrison Wright. The Lions upped their lead by two only 61 seconds later, when
Grant Farrell scored off of an assist from
Sam Murphy.
The 3-1 advantage by Emmanuel at the half way point remained throughout the rest of the game as neither team was able to score again.
Goalie
Giuliano Palma had one of his strongest performances yet as a Lion. Palma notched 10 saves throughout the night, only allowing the Nighthawks to score once in their 11 shots on goal.
Next up, men's soccer will head to Tennessee to take on King University on September 14th.
