Sharp Shooting Puts EC On Top of Barton, 87-79

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team defeated conference opponent Barton College, 87-79 on Saturday afternoon. This win brings the Lions record to 12-8 overall, 9-3 in conference.

The Bulldogs took advantage of several EC fouls early on and converted 15 free throws to boost themselves up to a 35-23 lead. With less than three minutes remaining in the first half, the Lions began to fire away. Emerson McClung and Isaiah Foster would both find the basket before Michael Wright connected two times from behind the arc. A 12 point run for EC would end with a last second steal and dunk by KJ Jones II. The score was now tied 37-37 at halftime.

When retuning from half-time, the teams continued to exchange shots. Emerson McClung would steal the lead at 43-42 one last time with a dunk of his own. The Lions began to break away as they improved their shooting percentage to 51.7% in the second half. EC would cruise to a 87-79 victory. 

Emmanuel ended the night shooting 44.4% including 30.8% from the three-point line.

KJ Jones II led the Lions with 21 points.

The Lions will return to the court on Wednesday, January 29th when they travel to Southern Wesleyan University for another conference matchup.
