Box Score CENTRAL, SC - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team traveled to South Carolina to take on the Southern Wesleyan University Warriors on Wednesday night. The Lions fell to the Warriors, 95-83, moving their record to 12-9 overall and 9-4 in conference.
The Lions got off to a slow start. After seven minutes of play, they trailed the Warriors by 12, 16-4. SWU maintained control throughout the rest of the first half, leading the Lions 41-33 going into halftime.
In the second half the Lions failed to make any progress, partially due to the Warriors solid performance from the free throw line. The Lions committed 26 fouls throughout the game. This resulted in the Warriors scoring 31 points off free throws. SWU went on to win by 13 points, 95-82.
The Lions won the turnover battle, forcing 9 and giving up 8. However, the Warriors outshot them in every category, shooting 49.1% from the field and 35.7% from three point territory. The Lions converted 43.3% of field goals and shot 34.5% from beyond the arc.
